By passing this exam, you prove that you have a solid basic knowledge of the language at level A2-B1 and that you can cope with all important everyday situations.
The DTZ counts as proof of language proficiency for naturalization.
Since 01.01.2023, participation in DTZ examinations is only possible if you either have a valid entitlement or obligation to participate in the integration course or, alternatively, have attended at least one course module of an integration course (at your own expense).

By successfully taking the "Living in Germany" test, you can prove your knowledge of the legal and social order and living conditions in Germany. During the test, you will be given a test booklet with 33 questions and have 60 minutes to answer them. For each question, you have to choose the correct answer from four possible answers.
